Rev. Alyce Husser is a native of Wilmington, DE and the daughter of the late Samuel and Ethel Brown. She has one much loved sister, Mrs. Teresa Larkin.
In August 1973 Rev. Husser joined the Simpson United Methodist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. William E. Russell and remained there for 21 years. During that time she served as the adult Bible Study teacher and also served as a Lay Speaker. On June 13, 1993, she was consecrated as a Diaconal (dee-ak'-on-al), Minister at the United Methodist Annual Conference.
In 1994, Rev. Husser became a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church (CFBC) under the pastorate of the Rev. Donald E. Dunnigan, Sr. She was licensed to preach on September 24, 1995 and ordained on July 30, 2000. (She additionally has received, American Baptist Churches USA ordination.) At CFBC, she served as an Associate Minister and Director of Christian Education.
In 2003 Rev. Husser became a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. Clifford I. Johnson. At that time she served as the Minister of Christian Education. On July 21, 2004, she was given the additional position of Executive Minister. She continues to serve in both capacities.
Rev. Husser is currently employed as a Senior Social Worker at the Christiana Hospital in the Hemodialysis Unit. Prior to entering the ministry, Rev. Husser held several positions, which included Director of Personnel and Administration, as well as Director of Resident Services for the Wilmington Housing Authority and Management Consultant for a Chicago based consulting firm.
Rev. Husser is a graduate of Howard High School and holds both a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Delaware State University in Dover, DE. She has studied at Drew, Perkins and Wesley Theological Seminaries. She is a graduate of the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (now Palmer Seminary) located in Wynnewood, PA, where she earned a Masters of Theological Studies.
She is affiliated with the Interdenominational Ministers Action Council (IMAC) of DE, The Philadelphia Baptist Association and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Rev. Husser has served as an adjunct instructor at the New Destiny Fellowship Bible School where she taught Introduction to the Bible, Hermeneutics and Homiletics. She is a teacher, conference and workshop facilitator. She most enjoys teaching God’s word and working with the elderly.
